July 10th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

This week in FS2 we are celebrating the year that we have had and reflecting upon what we have achieved.

We have a selection of pictures that have been taken throughout this year that we are using to recall some fantastic memories and prompt some fantastic discussions.

We are the FS2 ‘Class of 2017’.

What is your favourite memory from this year?

Physical Development

July 6th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Today in P.E we were checking if our throwing and catching had improved over the course of this year.

Miss H-W and Miss Jones were blown away by how much we had remembered.

Some of us are now able to catch with one hand. This is very tricky.

After all this exercise we were incredibly hot and needed to slow down our heart rates . We sat down in the outside classroom and  repeated breathing in and out slowly. This allowed us to feel calm and cooled down enough to head back to class.

How did the cool down make you feel? Why do we need to cool down?

Den Building

July 5th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

As part of our focus on ‘Houses and Homes’, we decided to build our own house in the Fs2 outside area.

We had to plan what we were going to do to ensure we were all working to the same target.

Did we want to build a big house or a small house?

We had to think about how tall we made the roof. If it was too small some of our taller visitors might knock it down.

It was important that we worked as part of a team.

What features did you include on your house?

Today we visited the Foundation Stage plot within the allotment.

Everything that we planted has been growing nicely.

It is important that we maintain our fruits and vegetables to ensure good growth.

What did we do to our plot today?

This is Our House

July 3rd, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

In Fs2 we have been reading a fantastic new story called ‘This is Our House’.

George says the cardboard house is his and no one else can play in it. It isn’t for girls, small people, twins, people with glasses, or people who like tunnels. But Lindy, Marly, Freddie, Charlene, Marlene, Luther, Sophie and Rasheda have other ideas! One by one each child is refused access until tables are turned and George finds how it feels to be on the receiving end.

Why is it important to share?

Physical Development

Today in P.E we have been focusing on a number of skills.

We competed in different tasks that required us to work well as a team.

We had to listen very carefully to what our team leader was saying.

We had to think about what the person in front of us would be doing and make sure that we prepared for this.

We  had to change our approaches to the task as the resources got bigger and smaller with each level.

Can you recreate this over and under activity at home?

Papa, Please get the moon for me

June 26th, 2017 · No Comments · Uncategorized

This week in Fs2 we are reading the story ‘ Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me’.

In the story, Monica wants the moon to play with, so her Papa sets out to get it. It isn’t easy to climb to the moon, but he finally succeeds — only to find the moon is too big to carry home.

What is special about this story?
